July is here and it's certainly going to be busy!

This month Gloucester will see live music, markets, art exhibitions and summer activities!

Here are some of the highlights!


Sunset Sessions

09, 16, 23, 30 July. Gloucester Food Dock

Join Gloucester Food Dock as they celebrate the Sounds of Summer, with bustling kitchens, clinking glasses and the incredible vocals of rising local talent. In partnership with The Music Works, each Thursday they’ll welcome a new local artist. With soulful sets from singer-songwriter Libby, a fusion of R&B, mellow rap and poetic soul from Merce Jade, a blend of indie-folk warmth and alt-rock from Jodie-O and more local talent emerging from the region.


Orchard St Food & Craft Market

04 – 05 July, Gloucester Quays

Set against the stunning backdrop of Gloucester Quays, the market brings together an exciting mix of delicious, locally sourced food and drink, artisan arts and crafts, jewellery, homeware, plants, seasonal produce, and mouth-watering street food and drinks.


Silent Disco

04 & 31 July, Kings Square

Grab a headset and choose your soundtrack as King’s Square becomes a shared celebration of Gloucester's diverse communities. With state-of-the-art LED headphones, you control your musical journey. Switch between channels to find your perfect groove. Each event spotlights a different part of our city, bringing people of all ages together. Head down, make memories, and help King's Square dance all summer long.


Summer Saturday Sounds

04, 11 & 25 July, The Folk of Gloucester

On selected Saturdays throughout the summer, The Folk of Gloucester's courtyard will be transformed into a relaxing beer garden with a themed soundtrack and delicious specials in their cafe. On the 4 July they’ll be playing the best of Americana and Country music, on the 11 July, they’ll be playing the best of pop music through the ages, and on the 25 July, they’ll be playing the best of indie music from the 90s and noughties.


Smoosh \\ Paraorchestra

10 July, Tredworth High Street

Taking to the streets of Gloucester, SMOOSH! brings a high energy wind and brass band to Tredworth in a celebration of music, movement, and community. The joy-packed parade features a selection of pop bangers and karaoke classics – with tunes from Fatboy Slim and Basement Jaxx, to Kate Bush and Adele.


Cathedral Organ Festival: Recital & Masterclass

18 & 19 July, Gloucester Cathedral

The internationally acclaimed conductor, organist and pianist Wayne Marshall OBE comes to Gloucester Cathedral for a special recital marking the unveiling of the Cathedral's magnificent new organ. Renowned worldwide for his virtuosity, versatility and electrifying musicianship, Wayne brings a global reputation and exceptional artistry to this landmark moment in the Cathedral's musical life. Members of the public are also warmly invited to observe a special masterclass led by Wayne Marshall in the Cathedral Quire. In this unique open session, Wayne will work with local organ students, exploring the art of improvisation under his expert guidance.


Gloucester Festival of Archaeology

18 July – 02 August, Across the city

In partnership with Gloucester Cathedral, Museum of Gloucester and several organisations and Heritage venues in Gloucester. Working together, they are bringing a host of activities designed to appeal to residents and visitors alike by encouraging everyone to look up and down and explore the city for the day through a range of run and low-cost activities.


Written on the Waterways

21 July – 29 August, National Waterways Museum

Visit the National Waterways Museum Gloucester this summer to explore their "Written on the Waterways" school summer holiday activities. From hand-painted boat panels to hard-wearing enamel signs, explore how lettering worked across the canal network through a series of self-guided activities inspired by the signs found throughout the museum.


Rhythm & Blues Festival 

24 July – 02 August, Across the city

The city swings again with the return of the Rhythm & Blues Festival! For ten jam-packed days, local legends, rising stars, and international blues talents will take over pubs and live music venues across the city. From laid-back afternoon sets to foot-stomping evening shows, there's something happening around every corner.


GeekOut Gloucester

25 July, Kings Square

Gloucester city centre is preparing for one of its biggest family-friendly summer events yet as Geek Out Gloucester takes over King's Square, King's Walk and Eastgate Shopping Centre. Designed to bring together pop-culture fans, families, gamers, collectors and shoppers, the event is expected to attract between 6,000–8,000 visitors into the heart of Gloucester for a full day of entertainment, immersive experiences, and city-wide activity.


Llanthony Quiz Night

25 July, Llanthony Secunda Priory

Test your knowledge of archaeology, local history, and fascinating discoveries from across the ages in a relaxed and friendly setting. Whether you're a history enthusiast or just looking for an enjoyable evening out, the quiz promises great questions, lively competition, and plenty of laughs.


Three Choirs Festival

25 July – 01 August, Gloucester Cathedral

Experience the power of live choral music at the 2026 Three Choirs Festival in Gloucester. The superb selection of concerts features the Festival's own choirs, internationally-recognised soloists, and the world-renowned Philharmonia Orchestra. Enjoy their flagship evening concerts, laid back late-nights, and intimate daytime recitals, and soak up the atmosphere between events in the Festival Village in the magnificent surroundings of Gloucester Cathedral.
