GeekOut Gloucester

About

Gloucester city centre is preparing for one of its biggest family-friendly summer events yet as Geek Out Gloucester takes over King's Square, King's Walk and Eastgate Shopping Centre on Friday 25th July from 10am–4pm.

Designed to bring together pop-culture fans, families, gamers, collectors and shoppers, the event is expected to attract between 6,000–8,000 visitors into the heart of Gloucester for a full day of entertainment, immersive experiences, and city-wide activity.

The event will transform multiple locations across the city centre into themed experience zones, creating a festival atmosphere that blends comic-con energy with family fun, live entertainment, gaming culture, and social-media-worthy moments.

Three Major Event Hubs Across Gloucester City Centre

King's Square will become the main event hub, packed with live attractions, entertainment, and fan experiences throughout the day.

King's Walk will host a vibrant makers market and interactive pop-culture experiences, bringing together independent traders, creators, and themed activations.

Eastgate Shopping Centre will become the Jurassic Zone, featuring dinosaur-themed experiences, props, family photo opportunities, and interactive entertainment designed for younger visitors and families.

Attractions Planned Across the Event Include:

Retro gaming stations with access to thousands of classic games

  • Walkaround characters and cosplay appearances
  • Family entertainment and children's activities
  • Jurassic-themed experiences and dinosaur props
  • Themed vehicles and immersive photo opportunities
  • Evolution Wrestling live appearances and activations
  • Influencer and creator coverage throughout the day

Organisers say the event is designed not only as a day out for families and fans, but also as a major opportunity for local businesses, retailers, and brands to benefit from increased footfall, dwell time and exposure during the summer period.

Promotion for the event has already begun across social media, with content campaigns, influencer collaborations and behind-the-scenes reveals planned in the lead-up to the day.

Will James Marketing Manager at Kings Quarter involved in the event said:

"Geek Out Gloucester is about a high-energy city-centre experience that brings together entertainment, community, retail, and culture.

We want families, visitors, and fans to feel like Gloucester is the place to be this summer."

The event forms part of wider efforts to continue building Gloucester city centre as a destination for experiences, culture, shopping, and entertainment, while supporting local businesses and encouraging visitors to spend more time exploring the area.

Visitors are encouraged to arrive early, explore all three event zones, and follow event updates online as more attractions and experiences are announced.
