Filipino Heritage Day invite on Saturday 4th July 12 to 6 pm at Kings Square

About

The Filipino Association of Gloucestershire will host Filipino Heritage Day: A Barrio Fiesta in Gloucestershire on Saturday, 4 July 2026 from 12 to 6 pm at Kings Square, Gloucester.

The free public event marks two historic anniversaries that share the same date. On 4 July 1946, the Republic of the Philippines gained its independence from the United States of America, and the Philippines and the United Kingdom established formal diplomatic relations. This year marks the 80th anniversary of both milestones.

The programme will begin with a cultural parade, followed by the national anthems of the Philippines and the United Kingdom, a welcome ceremony, live music, traditional and contemporary dance, community performances, Filipino food stalls and family-friendly activities. From 3 to 6 pm, visitors can also enjoy a Silent Disco, presented in partnership with the Rotary Club of Gloucester.

Raymond Padilla, Chairman of the Filipino Association of Gloucestershire, said:
"Filipino Heritage Day is a celebration of our identity, our history and our contribution to the community. As we mark 80 years of Philippine Independence and 80 years of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and the United Kingdom, we invite everyone to join us in celebrating the culture, friendship and diversity that unite us."

Featured performers include Lucky Mercado, actor, model and singer; Al Sanchez; Rosie; Marisa, leading a community Zumba session; and the Rockabilly Babes, together with additional local performers and community groups.

The event will be hosted by Viva O'Flynn, Mock Mayor of Barton 2025-2026 and Secretary of the Filipino Association of Gloucestershire.

Filipino Heritage Day showcases the traditions, music, dance and cuisine of the Philippines while bringing together people from across Gloucestershire in a celebration of cultural diversity and community.

The Filipino Association of Gloucestershire acknowledges the support of the Rotary Club of Gloucester, Gloucester City Council, Together Gloucester, Voices Gloucester, GCash Overseas, LJ's Catering, Tiburcia's, Ocho Ocho Asian Foods & Goods, Arlene's Panaderia, Love Viva Cakes and Crafts, Britanya Ngayon, and the volunteers, performers and sponsors whose contributions have made the event possible.
