The beginning of September has brought some wet weather to Gloucester but that doesn't get us down! We have plenty going on this month to keep everyone entertained! Here are some highlights!

Gloucester History Festival

05 – 20 September, Blackfriars Priory

The Gloucester History Festival travels back in time from 5 to 20 September this autumn with two packed weeks of talks, parades, performances and family events. With 150 events, 100 leading historians and 30 free activities for all ages in the Blackfriars Scriptorium, Britain's oldest surviving medieval library, there's history everywhere you turn.

Gloucester Day

05 September, City Centre

Gloucester Day is an annual celebration of the city's history and civic pride, traditionally held in early September. It commemorates the lifting of the historic Siege of Gloucester in 1643 during the First English Civil War, when the city successfully resisted Royalist forces.

Orchard St Food & Craft Market

05 – 06 September, Gloucester Quays

Wander, taste, and soak up the vibrant market-day atmosphere while meeting the friendly, passionate producers and makers. With around 70 fantastic traders each month, including all your regular favourites and some brilliant new businesses, there's always something new to discover.

Heritage Open Days

11 – 13 September, Across the city

Heritage Open Days celebrate England's fantastic historic architecture and culture by offering FREE access to properties which are usually closed to the public or normally charge for admission. Every year on three days in September, there's a chance to discover architectural treasures and enjoy FREE access to a wide range of events and activities which bring local history and culture to life.

Gloucester Cathedral Organ Festival: Gala Concert

12 September, Gloucester Cathedral

At the heart of Gloucester Cathedral's Organ Festival is the landmark gala performance with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, conducted by Adrian Partington, Director of Music at Gloucester Cathedral, and featuring internationally acclaimed organist Thomas Trotter.

Pride in Gloucester

12 September, Gloucester Park

Celebrate 20 years of Pride in Gloucestershire at the biggest festival yet! There is a spectacular line-up across 3 stages as well as community zones, inspiring talks and community meetups, Danter’s funfair and activities, and food & drink!

The (almost) Complete History of Britain

18 September, Llanthony Secunda Priory

Join the critically-acclaimed Pantaloons Theatre Company on a breathless race through the centuries in this delightfully inventive show that tells the entire story of Britain in under 2 hours. Featuring live music, audience interaction and wild historical inaccuracy.

Silent Disco

19 September, Kings Square

Grab a headset and choose your soundtrack as King’s Square becomes a shared celebration of Gloucester's diverse communities. With state-of-the-art LED headphones, you control your musical journey. Switch between channels to find your perfect groove.

A Night at the Opera

25 September, Gloucester Cathedral

A Night at the Opera is one of London Concertante's most popular shows. Featuring four soloists, each singing solo arias as well as duets, trios and quartets, accompanied by a live orchestra, this programme takes you on a journey through some of opera's greatest showstoppers.

Rapunzel

27 September, Gloucester Guildhall

Rapunzel, trapped in a tower by a wicked witch, must seize her destiny and plan her own escape. Bethan Woollvin's bold, funny twisted fairy-tale retelling is brought to life by award-winning Wrongsemble - bursting with music, magic, and madcap schemes in a fresh theatrical adventure with no prince in sight!
