Now we know that not everyone likes to celebrate Valentine’s Day, which was originally a feast day honouring a martyr named Valentine, and over the years it is what we see today, a celebration of love and romance.

Whilst some of us embrace the tradition, others see it as an over commercialised day, where everything seems to cost that little bit more! But no one can ignore the fact that it will soon be all around us, so here in the Visit Gloucester Team, we see it as a little opportunity to remind you of just some of the things you can do with your loved ones, at any time of year.

Something Unusual Perhaps?

Discover paddling

Why not book yourselves as session with Discover Paddling and get paddling in and around the Docks and experience our historic canals from a different perspective. For something dryer, try the Ninja Warrior Experience and tackle the huge selection of obstacles, and giant wall. Or why not test your sleuthing skills at Trapped Escape Rooms, with different themes to choose from, will you beat the clock?

Some Music or a Film?

Guildhall Cinema

Gloucester Guildhall is an arts venue with an impressive programme of music, comedy, film, and theatre. As well as the 440-capacity main hall, there is a 100-seat boutique cinema, a café bar and a workshop housed within the beautiful Grade II listed building, it is the perfect destination for all ages, whether you want to watch a film or enjoy some live music. See what’s on HERE.

Or maybe some Culture?

Civic Trust Tour

We can highly recommend booking a Tour with Gloucester Civic Trust. They run various tours around Gloucester City Centre, from City Discovery Tours to ones aimed at Children, Tours of the Docks, and even underground! Both the Folk of Gloucester and Gloucester Cathedral offer amazing tours too, we were entranced by the history and intricacies of both.

Perhaps a Bite to Eat?

The deck at Gloucester food dock

Enjoy a meal out in one of Gloucester’s magnificent restaurants. Appreciate waterfront views at Greek on the Docks as well as their great atmosphere and authentic Greek food. Share a crepe or some delicious tapas over at family run Spago, Gloucester's favourite hidden gem, or why not head to Gloucester Food Dock for a range of independent and local eateries.

Or something Outdoors in the Fresh Air?

Walking Llamas
Gloucester is renowned for its green spaces! Visit Barnwood Arboretum and marvel at the range of trees or spot the wildlife at the Alney Island Nature Reserve. Take a walk to the top of Robinswood Hill Country Park and relax with a picnic while gazing out at the view of our magnificent City, or head over to Briery Hill Farm to spend some time with cute Llamas in 9 acres of stunning woodland!

Be together …

Or why not simply use Valentine’s Day as the reminder to get something booked in for of your loved ones to enjoy, we can recommend tickets to Gloucester’s Tall Ships Festival.
