About

Originally established to celebrate the lifting of The Siege of Gloucester in 1643, Gloucester Day has grown into a citywide celebration of civic pride, characterised by its 11am and 2pm parades through the city centre. In between parades, our reenactors will be hanging out at The Folk to enjoy food, drink, live music and historical exhibits, and you're invited too!

Throughout the day:

Civil war re-enactors from the Sealed Knot
Amazing finds from the Taynton Detectorists and Gloucestershire Archaeology
Live historical music from The Waites of Gloucester and Bygonz
Children's craft activities with local artist Ally Goff

Itinerary (all times are approximate):

9:30am: Sealed Knot re-enactors arrive at The Folk and give a display of combat and musket firing
10am - 3pm: Make your own coat of arms or pocket Cavalier with Ally Goff
10.45am: Re-enactors leave The Folk to join the Mock Mayor of Barton Parade and ceremony at 11am
2-3pm: Main parade through the city centre
3:45pm: Sealed Knot re-enactors return to The Folk with another display of combat and musket firing. Afterparty begins!
The bar is open until 6pm.

Come and see our well-stocked bar within our newly refurbished Pin Factory Annexe! The cafe will be serving lunches, homemade cakes and hot drinks until 4pm. Entry is free with donations welcomed to support the upkeep of our historic building.
