Cathedral Stonecarving Festival

About

Join the Cathedral stonemasons this August Bank Holiday for a celebration of craft and skill at Gloucester Cathedral's Stonecarving Festival, and see heritage in action. The festival will explore the poignant theme of "Peace and Remembrance," marking 80 years since VE Day. Watch apprentices, master masons and talented newcomers alike bring stone to life before your eyes: chiseling, carving and shaping their creations over the course of the weekend.

Enjoy live demonstrations, meet the masons and discover the ancient art that continues to shape Gloucester Cathedral today.

Perfect for all ages with hands-on activities. No booking required. 'Have a go' sessions will be available to take part in throughout the day on Saturday and Sunday.

Donations to the event are appreciated. All proceeds are going to the Cathedral's Cloister Project which aims to protect and conserve the Cathedral's beautiful 14th century medieval Cloister.

With grateful thanks to the Cathedrals Workshop Fellowship (CWF) for supporting this event.
