Llanthony Open Day - Heritage Open Days

11 - 13 SepLlanthony Secunda Priory

Join Heritage Open Days 2026 and discover Llanthony Secunda Priory, a scheduled ancient monument in the heart of Gloucester. For three days, you can explore our historic five-acre site and step inside some of our beautiful listed buildings – all completely free. Founded in 1136, Llanthony Secunda was once an important Augustinian Priory. Today, its fascinating history can be discovered throughout our five acres of grounds. Cost: Free – donations welcome


City Guided Walks

Hear about the history of Gloucester from the Romans through to the Victorian era with Guided City Walks. The walk starts at 11.00 am and lasts about one and a half hours. Meet the guide at St Michael's Tower, at the Cross, where you can also buy tickets on the day. Cost is £10 per adult, £4 for secondary school children and £3 for primary school children. 11am Every Day - except Sunday.


Lloyd of the Flies Trail

Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust have partnered with Aardman to bring you the "Lloyd of the Flies Bug Hunt", an exciting trail around Robinswood Hill, developed in partnership with the Royal Entomological Society.

Lloyd is a young fly who always gets into sticky situations and stars in the Aardman animated series "Lloyd of the Flies". Lloyd and his family have booked into stay at a luxury bug hotel, but Lloyd's lost the map! Help Lloyd follow the trail around Robinswood Hill, to find the hotel, round up his friends and family and learn all about the wonderful world of insects along the way with fun facts to learn, provided by the RES. Operation: Museum Heist

Until 30 AugMuseum Heist TrailEnemy soldiers have infiltrated the Soldiers of Gloucestershire Museum and are attempting to steal our treasured artefacts! Hidden throughout the galleries are eight LEGO enemy soldiers waiting to be discovered. Pick up a trail sheet, explore the museum and see if you can track them all down before they complete their mission. It's a fun challenge that encourages children to explore every corner of the museum while learning about Gloucestershire's military history. Find out more HERE.


We're Going on a Hattie Hunt Afternoon Tea

Join a magical family afternoon tea adventure at Hatherley Manor! Inspired by the beloved children's story *We're Going on a Bear Hunt*, little explorers are invited to set off on a fun-filled Hattie Hunt in search of our mischievous hotel cat, Lady Harriet (Hattie), as she hides around the beautiful manor grounds. Before the adventure begins, families can enjoy a delicious afternoon tea, with a traditional selection for adults and a specially created children's afternoon tea for younger guests. Once refreshed, children can follow the trail, complete themed activities, discover Hattie's favourite hiding spots, and earn a special Hattie Hunt badge and sweet treat for completing the adventure. Written on the Waterways

Visit the National Waterways Museum Gloucester this summer to explore the "Written on the Waterways" school summer holiday activities. From hand-painted boat panels to hard-wearing enamel signs, explore how lettering worked across the canal network through a series of self-guided activities inspired by the signs found throughout the museum.
