Summer Challenge

01 – 31 August, National Waterways Museum

Complete all 9 challenges in and around the museum to collect your prize. Have fun completing trails, activities and exploring the docks. Running Tue-Sat 10am-4pm throughout August!

Summer Crafts

04, 06, 11, 13, 18 & 20 August, Soldiers of Gloucestershire Museum

Get creative with their family-friendly craft sessions, designed to keep young minds busy throughout the summer holidays. With different activities taking place across the holidays, children can make, decorate and take home their own creations inspired by military history. Perfect for budding artists of all ages.

Elmore Festival

05 – 08 August, St John the Baptist Church

Now in its seventh year, Elmore Festival returns from 5 - 8 August 2026, bringing four days of world-class chamber music to the beautiful 13th-century Church of St. John the Baptist in Elmore. Renowned for combining exceptional musical standards with a warm and welcoming atmosphere, the festival has become one of the South West's hidden cultural gems.

The Ready-Set-Sing Trail

05 August – 01 November, Gloucester Cathedral

Can you help the Cathedral's new chorister, Clara, get ready for her first big service at Gloucester Cathedral? Explore the Cathedral's beautiful spaces on this brand-new family trail and discover everything Clara needs to know for her first day in the Cathedral Choir. Along the way, you'll warm up your voice, discover amazing instruments and even try on choir robes.

Sunset Sessions

06 August, Gloucester Food Dock

Every Thursday evening, enjoy a 'Sunset Session' of live music on the Food Dock Deck. In partnership with The Music Works, they welcome a new local artist. With soulful sets from singer-songwriter Libby, a fusion of R&B, mellow rap and poetic soul from Merce Jade, a blend of indie-folk warmth and alt-rock from Jodie-O and more local talent emerging from the region.

Sherlock Holmes and the Mystery of the Governor's Nose

08 August, The Folk of Gloucester

Extra! Extra! Painting stolen from distinguished art gallery! Everyone's favourite detective duo (no, not Shaggy and Scooby) are given the Jenny Wren Productions treatment in this open air theatre show suitable for all the family. Holmes and Watson are called upon to investigate the disappearance of a legendary painting, The Governor's Nose. But all is not as elementary as it seems.

Legally Blonde: The Musical

12 – 15 August, The Kings Theatre

After their successful run of Fame the Musical, Harmonee Productions returns, bigger and better than ever with Legally Blonde the Musical! A fabulously fun award-winning musical based on the adored movie of the same name, Legally Blonde The Musical follows the transformation of Elle Woods as she tackles stereotypes and scandal in pursuit of love.

Silent Disco

15 & 28 August, Kings Square

Grab a headset and choose your soundtrack as King’s Square becomes a shared celebration of Gloucester's diverse communities. With state-of-the-art LED headphones, you control your musical journey. Switch between channels to find your perfect groove. Each event spotlights a different part of our city, bringing people of all ages together.

The Tale of Peter Rabbit and Benjamin Bunny

15 August, Llanthony Secunda Priory

Quantum Theatre are back with an enchanting new adaptation of two of Beatrix Potter's best-loved Tales, The Tales of Peter Rabbit and Benjamin Bunny. Peter and his naughty cousin Benjamin know very well that they are not to go into Mr McGregor's garden, but they cannot resist and soon they find themselves in all sorts of scrapes, caught in a net, trapped by a snarling cat and face to face with Mr McGregor himself!

Drift Tricks: Tidelines

17 – 22 August, Kings Square

Drift Tricks: Tidelines is an exciting programme bringing 9 large-scale skateable sculptures to Kings Square for a week of workshops and activities. There will be a huge celebration Skate Jam event on Saturday 22 August, with live music, skate displays and competitions, stalls and a roller disco!

Gloucester Goes Retro

29 August, Across the city

Vintage fashion, retro music festival, hundreds of classic cars, all in one fabulous FREE family day out! Gloucester Goes Retro is returning on Saturday 29th August 2026! There will be lots to experience this year with classic cars filling the gate streets, live music in Kings Square, street performers, family fun down at the docks, plus more going on around the city!
