The summer is nearly over but September will still be keeping us busy. Here are some highlights!
Lions At Large
Until 14 September
For the Summer of 2025, Lions at Large – The Pride of Gloucestershire Trail has roared onto the streets of Cheltenham and Gloucester! Over 30 large Lion sculptures have been designed and painted by local artists; celebrating Gloucestershire’s rich history, culture and diversity. They are joined by the Cub Club – a pride of little Lions lovingly created by local schools and community groups. This is a fun, free and family-friendly Wild in Art event. Streets, parks and open spaces will dazzle with their vibrant colours and surprising designs. Helping to bring together our community to explore and feel pride in their local area!
Guildhall Comedy Club
02 September
Guildhall Comedy Club brings the finest new touring comedians to Gloucester with local comedian Nik Hill as your MC. Hosted in the Guildhall Cinema, this intimate version of our comedy club offers the perfect atmosphere for a good weeknight laugh.
Tour of the Eastgate Chamber
05, 19 September
With a Civic Trust guide, visit the Eastgate Chamber and discover Roman walls, a medieval gate tower and a 16th century horse pool!
Gloucester History Festival
06 - 21 September
Two hundred events over two weeks explore the best in the world of history. Enjoy the unique Gloucester Day parade, wander through magnificent Heritage Open Days buildings and hear Britain's best-loved historians, actors, politicians and broadcasters speak under the medieval beams of Blackfriars Priory.
Orchard St Food & Craft Market
06 - 07 September
Located at the stunning Gloucester Quays, the market offers a great mix of delicious, locally sourced food and drink, artisan arts and crafts, jewellery, homeware, plants and seasonal goods, plus amazing street food and bars. Come along, enjoy great food and drink, soak up the atmosphere of market day and meet our friendly, dedicated, and enthusiastic producers.
Heritage Open Days at The Folk
12 - 14 September
As part of a citywide weekend of free walks, talks, tours and music, The Folk is hosting a programme of fascinating speakers throughout the weekend. As always, the historic building is open and free to look around and the cafe will be serving delicious home-cooked lunches, snacks and hot and cold drinks.
Pride in Gloucestershire
13 September
Pride in Gloucestershire returns to Gloucester Park on Saturday 13 September 2025 for a joyful, community-powered celebration of LGBTQ+ identity, inclusion, and visibility. Kicking off with a vibrant Pride March through the city, the day continues with live music and cabaret, family-friendly zones, local food and drink, community and market stalls, and dedicated spaces for youth, trans, neurodiverse, and K&F communities.
Home, Elsewhere: Moomin & Belonging
19 September
Join the Museum of Gloucester as they delve into the life and works of Tove Jansson, exploring how her socio-political context and personal experiences shaped the Moomins into symbols of hope and belonging for generations.
Renew and Reconnect: Quayside Retreat at Llanthony Secunda Priory
20 September
Experience ultimate relaxation and rejuvenation at "Renewal at the Quays" on the 20 September. Enjoy energising yoga, a delicious lunch Quayside, shopping or a master class, and a soothing sound Bowl Practice. Unwind in the serene, historic Llanthony Secunda Priory.
Baga Chipz - 'Chip Off The Old Block' Tour
26 September
Join Baga and friends this autumn as she rocks up to Gloucester Guildhall! Expect an evening of live vocals; belting out big band ballads, disco classics and songs you'd sing down the pub with the nation's number one tart. Plus a special segment dedicated to her dear friend The Vivienne.
