In What's On

Nominations are now open for this year’s Believe in Gloucester Awards, celebrating the people, businesses and organisations that help Gloucester thrive.

The awards, run by Gloucester BID, shine a light on those who go above and beyond to support the city and its community. Over the next four weeks, residents and businesses are encouraged to put forward their local heroes across fifteen exciting categories.

Headline sponsors WSP Solicitors and Gloucester Quays are proud to return for 2025, continuing their strong support for the city.

Judi Bonham, Managing Director of WSP Solicitors, said: “WSP Solicitors are proud to once again be co-headline sponsors of the Believe in Gloucester Awards. As long-standing supporters of these awards, it’s fantastic to see them return for another year. They shine a spotlight on everything that makes our city such a special place to live and work.

“Community is at the heart of what we do at WSP. It’s truly inspiring to see the incredible businesses, people and projects that are nominated each year. We look forward to seeing this year’s entries and wish everyone the very best of luck.”

Owen Acland, Centre Manager at Gloucester Quays, added:

“Gloucester Quays’ success is because of all the brilliant people that make our city thrive. That’s why we love supporting the BiG Awards. The work of Gloucester BID in celebrating the efforts of our business community is really important. It provides much-earned recognition for those that really champion our city. The Retailer of the Year category is one we obviously have a real passion for. There are lots of brilliant brands in Gloucester that add huge value to daily life, something we contribute to and take great pride in.”

Emily Gibbon, Manager of Gloucester BID, further added:

“These awards celebrate everything that makes Gloucester special. That includes its people, its businesses and its community spirit. We’re encouraging everyone to get involved and nominate those who deserve the spotlight. Whether it’s a much-loved pub, a brilliant local volunteer or a fantastic event, we want to hear about it. These stories deserve to be told and shared with the wider city. Let’s celebrate Gloucester together.”

Last year’s awards saw winners from every corner of the city, showcasing Gloucester’s talent, passion and resilience. Broomfield Care took home Business of the Year, whilst Roots Refills won for their sustainability work. Gloucester Goes Retro picked up Event of the Year, and Chez Rose was named Retailer of the Year.

The individual honours were just as inspiring. Christopher Hancock was named Young Ambassador of the Year for his community dedication, and Matt Cass was awarded Ambassador of the Year.

Nominations are open until mid-July, with shortlisting to follow later in the summer. Public voting will then take place ahead of the awards night in November. To submit a nomination, visit the Believe in Gloucester website.
