In What's On

After weeks of teasing a secret headliner, Gloucester Tall Ships Festival has excitedly announced that global sensation and chart-topper Nathan Evans will close this year’s event, on Monday 27 May.

Renowned for his viral hit ‘The Wellerman’ as well as his anthemic rendition of ‘Heather on the Hill’, Nathan Evans will bring the spirit of Scotland to the banks of the Severn with his uplifting blend of shanty, pop, and folk music. Having built up a loyal following through TikTok, leading to his musical breakthrough, Nathan has secured a reputation as one of the most authentic and well-loved artists in the music industry. His Bank Holiday Monday performance is sure to be a highlight of the festival, entrancing audiences with his infectious energy and famously euphoric melodies.

The festival, which takes place from Saturday 25th – Monday 27th May at Gloucester Docks, promises to be a memorable celebration of music, maritime heritage, and global connections.

This new headliner announcement adds to the incredible line-up of performers already confirmed to appear at Gloucester Tall Ships Festival this year. From Brassienda’s infectious renditions of club classics to the foot-stomping tunes of Glastonbury and Bestival favourites The Old Time Sailors, along with local favourites The Roving Crows and Thrill Collins. Each day of the festival promises high-quality, high-energy performances to help audiences celebrate the Spring Bank Holiday weekend in style.

Among the confirmed Tall Ships are Phoenix, which recently featured in Ridley Scott’s blockbuster Napoleon, along with Irene, which has featured in films such as Pirates of the Caribbean and Alice Through The Looking Glass. Additional immersive performances and a programme of family-friendly activities are still to be announced.

Commenting on his upcoming performance, Nathan Evans expressed his excitement, stating, “There is nothing I love more than playing for a live crowd and to get the chance to perform my songs against the backdrop of Gloucester Docks is going to be a moment to remember. With this being a Bank Holiday, I’m sure that everybody is going to be in the mood to have a good time!”
