About
During the 1870s, Gloucester became the scene of a bitter conflict over an unusual resource - baby eels! This humorous play by Jessica Law covers this bizarre moment in Gloucestershire history and other times the lives of ordinary people have been upended by the European Eel.
From the dawn of the dinosaurs to the draining of the Fens and the career of Sigmund Freud, eels have impacted history and science in many unexpected (and hilarious) ways. And now that they're in decline, understanding this endangered species has never been more important. Join us on a sketch-based romp through the history and science of the European Eel, suitable for ages 8 and above.
This play is part of The Folk of Gloucester's weekend-long showcase of local acting and writing talent. Enjoy a varied programme of hour-long plays in our beautiful historic building with cafe and bar.
