Gloucester Comes Together for "Doves of Peace" Art Project in King's Square
To celebrate the 'International Day of Peace' That White Room with Together Gloucester invite everyone to take part in the "Doves of Peace" community art project in Kings Square on 20th September
Led by That White Room and local artists, the event will see people of all ages invited to make paper doves, each carrying a personal message, wish, or prayer for peace. Once created, the doves will be collected and carefully assembled into a large-scale hanging mobile sculpture – a striking symbol of Gloucester's shared hope for unity and peace in uncertain times.
The final installation will go on public display in Eastgate Shopping Centre, allowing people to see the artwork and the heartfelt messages it contains.
Artist Russell Haines said:
"This project is about giving people a way to express their feelings in a simple but powerful way. By bringing the community together to make something beautiful, we're showing that Gloucester stands for peace and solidarity."
The event is free and open to everyone. Families, schools, and community groups are especially encouraged to take part.
