Visit Gloucester launches the city’s summer campaign featuring huge music events including Three Choirs Festival, new concerts at Kingsholm Stadium, and more.

Visit Gloucester has launched the city’s next big visitor campaign celebrating the sounds that make up the city - from some of the UK’s biggest live music acts to the quiet places in the city where you can find moments of connection.

The city’s tourism body, run by Gloucester City Council, is bringing together all of this in Gloucester’s Summer of Sound. Working closely with Gloucester BID, and major event organisers in the city, the campaign is designed to bring local residents and visitors in to experience a number of incredible gigs, festivals and events and shine a light on the quieter places and soothing experiences the city has to offer.

Cllr. Caroline Courtney, Cabinet Member for Culture & Leisure at Gloucester City Council, says ‘Gloucester is a music city, as you can see from the number of incredible gigs and festivals coming to the city this summer, as well as much-loved events that return each year. This campaign from Visit Gloucester is a great way to help visitors and residents find all that’s on in one place, as well as ways to connect with the city in new ways through sound.’

Summer of Sound’s featured events include:

  • The absolute icon that is Sir Tom Jones, who'll be entertaining a packed Kingsholm Stadium, along with epic summer vibes from unbelievable Ministry of Sound Classical, as part of Gloucester Rugby’s unmissable Summer Series this June.
  • BBC National Orchestra of Wales will be headlining Gloucester Cathedral’s Organ Festival in June, alongside other amazing artists and wraparound events. This festival has been created to celebrate the build of the Cathedral's astonishing new organ. Mind-blowing sounds, no amplification needed.
  • Three Choirs Festival, reportedly the oldest music festival in the UK, is back in Gloucester in July and will be more magnificent than ever. With accessible ticket prices, youth memberships, free events, the beautiful Festival Village and huge concerts featuring epic works from Elgar, Mozart and Beethoven, as well as incredible contemporary music, if you've never been to this world-class music festival, now's the time!
  • Also in July, the city’s much-loved Rhythm & Blues Festival, coordinated by Gloucester BID is set to bring the streets (and pubs!) alive once again for ten jam-packed days of jazz, R&B and smooth vibes.
  • Over a week this August, dive into Lost in Music a world of rhythm, voice and tune at Gloucester Guildhall with family-friendly activities, performances, installations and more, all inspired by the immersive nature of music.

In addition to these featured events, Visit Gloucester is inviting all organisers of events in the city to send them their events so they can be included. Whether a community concert, a pub gig, a one-person show, summer fete, Visit Gloucester is keen to know about it so they can promote it as part of this campaign. You can get in touch via summerofsound.co.uk or by submitting your events here.

Over the summer, Visitors and residents will be encouraged to get involved using #SummerOfSound, sharing pictures of everything summery or musical you see and do in the city and surrounding areas. If you tag @VisitGloucester, they can share your photos.
