PASS GO, collect £200 - and advance to Gloucester. And if along the way you fancy purchasing the city’s ‘crown jewels’ well, you can, for just MONOPOLY Money.

At Gloucester Food Dock earlier today, it was announced that Gloucester is getting its very own version of the world’s favourite family board game. Our amazing city has beaten a host of others in a 10-way race across the UK based on three factors:

  • ‘Sense of Family Values’
  • ‘Civic Pride’
  • ‘Beauty’

Ben Ladd Gibbon from Winning Moves said “Gloucester ticked every box for us.”

Mr. MONOPOLY – the brand’s icon – enjoyed a whistlestop tour of key landmarks, taking selfies and signing money (only MONOPOLY money though!), did you spot him?

The new game will see leading Gloucester landmarks and organisations - such as The Forum and Gloucester Cathedral - replacing the likes of Mayfair and Park Lane from the classic London MONOPOLY board.

The public will be invited to send in suggestions for landmarks and organisations to feature in the game. Expected to lead the way, predicts Mr. Ladd Gibbon, will be Gloucester Cathedral, The Forum, the Docks and Kingsholm Stadium. In all, more than 30 Gloucester landmarks and organisations will feature on the board. “We are sure we are going to be wonderfully spoilt with choices when putting this game together,” adds Mr. Ladd Gibbon, Custom Games Partnership Manager at Winning Moves UK.

Fancy suggesting a location or landmark to be included? Or try your hand at writing some wording for the cards?

The public is being invited to suggest Gloucester landmarks to be featured on the famous MONOPOLY space. Also, suggestions are invited for the wording for the Chance and Community Chest cards. Suggestions can be made by email to: gloucester@winningmoves.co.uk

Jack Fayter, from Visit Gloucester, says: “Gloucester is filled with iconic landmarks, stunning buildings and hidden gems – so an official Monopoly board is a stellar opportunity to show them all off!.

“From our astonishing Cathedral, legendary Kingsholm Stadium and beloved Docks to our latest landmarks like The Forum, Food Dock and City Campus, it's fitting that the city has its very own edition of such an iconic game.

“We love that everyone in Gloucester will be able to contribute their ideas to the board and I'm looking forward to seeing what locations people suggest.”

And a delighted Hannah Sweet, Food Dock Marketing Administrator, says: "As a host to regular board game nights in our bars here at the Food Dock, it'll be fantastic to see the Docks officially recognised as a local landmark on such a classic game!”

The MONOPOLY: Gloucester Edition board will be themed in sets from tourism to heritage, shopping to sport, business to leisure - and more to reflect the verve and vibrancy of Gloucester. The train station set – comprising of four main-line stations in the original classic London MONOPOLY – will take on a ‘travel’ theme.

The game will hit the shops in time for this Christmas (2026).

Nominations will be accepted for consideration from 10am on Tuesday 17th February 2026 until 23.59pm on 9th March 2026.

Winning Moves UK - an official MONOPOLY maker - is producing the brand-new MONOPOLY: Gloucester Edition board game, under license from Hasbro, a leading games, IP and toy company. Winning Moves UK makes MONOPOLY editions for places all over the world, including high-profile cities, such as Palm Beach, Dubai and The Hamptons. In 2003 Winning Moves UK produced a limited-edition MONOPOLY: Gloucestershire Edition game. This county edition was hugely popular in its day but was discontinued very many years ago.

MONOPOLY

MONOPOLY first hit shelves in 1935 with the Racecar, Thimble, Boot, Top Hat, and Battleship among the original set of MONOPOLY tokens while the Scottie Dog and Wheelbarrow were added in the early 1950s. Although the brand has evolved over the past 90+ years, the gameplay and iconography of the classic MONOPOLY game has remained unchanged, making it a timeless classic sure to be enjoyed by future generations. Today, MONOPOLY is the world’s favourite family game brand and is enjoyed by more than one billion players in 114 countries across the globe.
