As Christmas draws ever closer, the number of Christmas Films popping up on channels seems to increase daily, people start talking about their favourite film in November and which they will watch first!
Here at Visit Gloucester we decided to do a little poll to see which films were people's favourites!
So below are the 10 Christmas Films, listed in no particular order, that got the most votes!

Elf

With well known lines quoted by many, and merchandise everywhere, Elf is definitely a firm favourite for all age groups, even a leading supermarket used Buddy and the film in their Christmaa Advert this year!

The question is ... 'do you know Santa too?'

The Snowman

A truly magical film from 1982, based on the wonderful book written by Rayond Briggs. As soon as you hear the lyrics 'We're walking in the Air', you are taken to a snowy world of a lovable snowman and his newly found friend flying through the night sky. Nostalgia at its festive finest.

The Muppet Christmas Carol

Based on the 1843 novel A Christmas Carol, written by Charles Dickens, the film sees The Great Gonzo and Rizzo as narrators in the opening scenes. Michael Caine takes the lead role as Scrooge, with his long time employee played by the lovable Kermit the Frog, it follows the story as we all know, but with artistic license and humour throughout.

The Polar Express

Released in 2004, this computer-animated fantasy adventure film is a firm favourite, quite un-traditional with the lack of belief from children in Father Christmas, we are taken on a journey like no other, bound for the North Pole. If you haven't watched it, it is a must ... do you still hear the bell ring?

Love Actually

A Christmas Rom-Com packed full of famous faces, we follow the stories of love and heartache at Christmas, some of which is intertwined in a very clever way. From first loves to unrequited love, and everything in between, we have a question, has anyone forgiven Harry/Alan Rickman yet?

It's a Wonderful Life

Widely considered one of the best Christmas films ever, and infact one of the best films ever produced, It's a Wonderful Life sees divine intervention from a Guardian Angel. A very moving and emotionally deep film, it captures you from the first scene until the credits roll. A very special story.

Miracle on 34th Street

First released in 1947, followed by a full colour version in 1994, this classic film captures the heart of many. The sanity of a man claiming to be the 'real' Father Christmas is defended in court by lawyer Fred Gailey, all they needed to win the case was a miracle ...

The Holiday

Two females, one American and one English, decide to escape their day to day lives and swap homes for Christmas. With new friendships and events experienced by them both, through meeting each other's friends and neighbours, this is a wonderfully feel-good film ... and the chocolate box country cottage is a dream house for so many.

Home Alone

We are referring to the original, not the sequels, Home Alone is a film for both big and little kids alike! Skipping over the fact that a family left their son home alone whilst they flew abroad, Kevin (Macaulay Culkin) spends the holidays defending his home from criminals! With laugh-out-loud moments aplenty, that are completely over the top, it's hard not to love this now Christmas Classic!

Die Hard

No Christmas film list would be complete without the debate, is Die Hard a Christmas film or not? With terrorists taking hostages during a Christmas party, it certainly doesn't fit in with what might be considered the traditional Christmas film genre, however, fans the world over will argue black and blue, that Die Hard is infact, the BEST Christmas Film EVER!!

So, do you agree with our list? Which have we missed that is your favourite? Is Die Hard shown over the Festive Season in your household?
Whatever you decide to watch, we hope you have a wonderful Festive Season and a very Merry Christmas.
