Moomin 80
Multiple Dates
We are thrilled that Gloucester is a part of Moomin 80, as 2025 celebrates the 80th anniversary of the Moomins’ Stories with a curated series of magical events, all about finding home and welcoming people in. Events are taking place during Refugee Week from 14-22 June, whilst the Moomin ABC Exhibition is open until October 5th.
Join us in Gloucester to celebrate 80 years of the Moomins with a joyful programme of art, activities, and storytelling across Gloucester Docks, the Museum of Gloucester, and Gloucester Guildhall. Inspired by The Moomins and the Great Flood, this city-wide celebration explores the timeless themes of welcome, safety, and belonging—values at the heart of Tove Jansson’s beloved stories.
Events include Welcome Chorus, Moonlit Arrival, You Look As Though You Might Be A Relation, Moomin Picnic, and many more!

Evening Painting Workshop: Religious Iconography
06 June
In this 3 hour evening workshop you'll be inspired by religious iconography found in the Cathedral, and in medieval art works, to create your own piece. Artist Jane Brighton will introduce participants to the history of icons and images used in religious art. Covering portrayals of angels and demons in medieval art, gargoyles and grotesques, the symbolism used to portray messages such as fish, and a look at the Victorian resurgence in religious art, as is found in our own St Andrew's Chapel.
Set in the medieval surrounding of our learning Hub, above St Marys Arch, Jane will give you an introduction to the the technique of fresco painting. You will have an opportunity to use found materials, collage , paints and different art materials to create your final piece.

With a Civic Trust guide, learn why the Romans came to Gloucester. Discover Roman walls in the Eastgate Chamber, walk down the site of the Forum and meet Emperor Nerva.

Gorgeously ravishing, deliciously risqué and just a little bit ridiculous, travelling vaudeville show Hundred Watt Club bring a glittering, sizzling line-up of burlesque showgirls, comedy, circus and cabaret acts to Gloucester Guildhall! There'll be vintage inspired glamour, new-school wit, eye watering circus acts and sizzling burlesque acts. Each line-up is different, so expect the unexpected, but be ready for a beautiful, brash and bawdy night of very grown up entertainment!

26 - 28 June
Get ready for Showdown at Gloucester Guildhall! This high-energy spectacle combines jaw-dropping circus stunts with razor-sharp humour in a one-of-a-kind competition where the audience is invited to vote for their favourite. Six fearless contestants push their limits in a no-holds-barred race to the top, all for the promise of a single prize.
