Autumn is definitely underway here in the city, the leaves are slowly changing colour, and there is a definite crispness to the air. As the seasons change we see lots of new events coming up in October, and we are really excited, especially as we love everything Spooky!
The Lions at Large Trail has come to en end, but don’t worry, the Farewell Event is taking place at Cheltenham Race Course – more info HERE
Gloucester Choral Society are excited to open their 2025–26 season in a new collaboration with Cheltenham Symphony Orchestra. The concert, at Gloucester Cathedral, will open with the delightful overture to the opera Hansel and Gretel by Engelbert Humperdinck, followed by Ein Deutsches Requiem by Johannes Brahms
From 17 - 25 OCT Poppy Fields will transform the beautiful setting of Gloucester Cathedral into a captivating display of light and sound, and reflects on the sacrifices of the First and Second World Wars, offering a message of peace and hope for the future.
The much-loved Great Scarecrow Hunt is back at Painswick Rococo gardens from 18 Oct - 2 Nov – and this year's scarecrows come from the past and the future!
Out of the Box on the 19 Oct at Gloucester Guildhall, is a family-friendly circus comedy show at Gloucester Guildhall, which sees an unlikely character and his box bring audiences together through joyful awe, never knowing what to expect next.
Head down to the National Waterways Museum in the Gloucester Docks to discover the spookier side of canal crafts from 25 Oct – 1 Nov. Meet the stitching spider and follow them around the museum to discover spider web stitching, quilting, traditional clothes and much more! Activities for all ages and abilities plus drop in crafts on the Tuesday 28 October and Thursday 30 October!
There is also a range of Halloween events and activities at the Museum of Gloucester this month! Bring the family and help Tessy Tumblepot, the museum's most muddled witch, brew her magical potion! She's lost all her spooky ingredients somewhere in the museum and needs clever young explorers to help track them down. Or take part in one of the Brick or Treat Halloween Lego Sessions!
