Local Produce
Gloucestershire is a foodie's paradise, boasting world-renowned produce including the Double and Single Gloucester cheeses. The UK's first pedgree breed pig, the Gloucestershire Old Spot, is quite rightly sought after by the top chefs in the country for its succulence and flavour. The River Severn is famed for its rare elvers (baby eels) which fetch a high price in restaurants in Japan.

Markets
The Gloucester Farmers Market is always worth a visit every Friday at The Cross – the intersection of Northgate Street, Eastgate Street, Southgate Street and Westgate Street – from 9am to 3pm. The feast of food on sale includes organic fruit and vegetables, and a range of locally sourced meats, beers and ciders, and plants and flowers, plus hot food stalls. Gloucester Quays hosts the Orchard Street Market on the first weekend of ech month.
