Swing Dance Workshops poster

Learn some dance steps or polish up your skills with these free dance workshops.

In preparation for Discover DeCrypt's Jubilee Tea Dance on Sunday 5 June, they are running three dance workshops in May, led by the talented dance instructors of Gloster Swing Dance. Classes will be on Saturday 7 May, Sunday 22 May, and Sunday 29 May. All classes start at 5.30pm and last one hour. Children are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult. The workshops are free but booking in advance is essential.

At Gloster Swing Dance, they teach authentic American swing dancing which is a partner dance based on the original swing dance called Lindy Hop. It incorporates some of the steps from the biggest dance craze in history 'The Charleston'! You may have seen these dances featured on the BBC TV programmes 'Strictly Dance Fever' and 'Strictly Come Dancing'.

They teach to all types of music and play tunes that are sure to get your foot tapping. There is no particular dress code but comfy casual clothes and low heeled, smooth soled shoes are best.

Whoever you are, whatever age; even if you've never danced before, come along and give this fun, easy to learn dance a try!
