Lantern Procession

About

Ring in the festive cheer as Gloucester’s stunning Lantern Procession & Christmas Light Switch-On returns this year on Sunday 21 November at 4.45pm as part of the Bright Nights programme.

Local artists and schoolchildren are working on a series of magical lanterns based on the theme “Loving Our Planet (Guardians of Nature)”, highlighting the importance of sustainability and doing our bit to slow climate change. As part of this year’s procession, you can expect to see foragers, pollinators, gardeners and much more, all lead by Father Christmas himself with the city's Christmas lights turning on as it passes underneath.

Meet us on Southgate Street and follow the procession as it travels through the city!

Procession route: Southgate Street, Westgate Street, Berkeley Street, Longsmith Street, Ladybellegate Street, Blackfriars
